MADRES' 2018 ACTIVITIES
MADRES SAY CONGRATULATIONS TREVOR!
Several San Diego Madres were among those present for a recent afternoon Press Conference honoring the San Diego Padres' pitcher Trevor Hoffman for his selection to the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Madres President, Kandi Nieto is pictured above sporting her "Madres Say Congratulations" sign for Trevor.
Trevor's storied career includes 601 saves, a 2.87 ERA and being a 7 time All-Star. Padres fans will never forget the gong sounding just prior to the playing of Trevor's entry song, "Hell's Bells" and his running in full speed  from the bull pen to the mound. Trevor will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 29, 2018 and many San Diego Madres plan to attend. For more information on Cooperstown Packages available, please refer to our upcoming events below.

MADRES AND FRIENDS ROLL THE DICE ON CINCO DE MAYO

The Madres gathered for a Cinco de Mayo Bunco evening on Sat May 5, 2018.  We had about 26 people enjoy an afternoon of Mexican food and lots of fun.  This was a smaller group then we normally have but we were still able to raise around $500.  As we always say, more than we had before and we had fun doing it.  I want to say thank you to all who took the time to come out and play and especially those that helped set up, clean up, and donated food and raffle items.  I really had to rely on others for this one and as usual, my friends came thru and helped me out, you guys are the BEST!  I look forward to having another one as a lot of our usual attendees weren’t able to make this one.  Look for a future date to roll the dice and have some fun!

Meet-and-Greet #2, Saturday, July 15

 Padres versus Giants

By Rickie Sevadjian

Forty-three Madres and friends were escorted to the Petco Park auditorium to meet and greet our newest starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet.  There were introductions, an audience rendition of the "Happy Birthday" song for his upcoming birthday, questions-and-answers, autographs, and photos with this very friendly and accommodating young man.  When he left for his pre-game activities, we were told to sit tight, as there was to be a surprise.  Along came two more of our new Padres pitchers, relievers José Torres and José Valdez, for more autographs and photos!

Following that, we were shown to seats in the ballpark next to the Padres dugout to watch warm-ups and batting practice for the Padres and the Giants.  Then there was time to explore the park and have dinner before the game.  The fun continued as we saw a very close game, a 3-3 score going into the bottom of the ninth, and a two-run walk-off homer for the win!  Fireworks and a laser light show followed, a spectacular end to a very exciting day!

Over $600 was raised to support our local youth baseball and softball leagues

SIGHTS AND SIPS
Thirty-three Madres and friends gathered to board the Hornblower Sights and Sips Sunset cruise on Friday Sept 29th. It was a perfect night on the Bay. We even got to dance the night away. The best part was Barb Cooke picking the best dance partner. Dorothy Yonemitsu and Barb danced to Dancing Queen. BINGO!!
Twenty-four Madres and friends joined in the annual Bingo fall gathering. One table in particular seemed to generate more "BINGO"s than any other. A delicious lunch, Opportunity Drawings and the games of Bingo all contributed to a successful event.
